BroadOak Health Advisors

Team

BroadOak is led by senior partners who have spent their careers in and around health systems, health plans, physician organizations and value-based care companies. Each engagement is led by a partner who does the core work. When a project needs deeper subject-matter expertise or more analytic support, we bring in experts and specialists with decades, not years, of experience.

Rick Weil

Rick Weil, PhD

Managing DirectorLinkedIn

Rick has spent more than twenty years advising health systems, health plans, healthcare services companies and large physician groups on value-based care strategy, payer strategy and physician alignment. Much of that work has been about how organizations are set up to take on risk and value-based payment.

He was a Partner in the Health & Life Sciences practice at Oliver Wyman and a Managing Director at BDC Advisors. Outside consulting, he ran the Healthcare Industry Vertical at Aon and was Senior Vice President of Transformation at Evolent Health. He co-founded HC Wisdom, a healthcare advisory firm that BDC Advisors later acquired.

Rick holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Nuclear Engineering, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Brian Silverstein, MD

Brian Silverstein, MD

Managing DirectorLinkedIn

Brian works with health systems, physician organizations and health plans on problems that cross organizational lines. Much of his recent work is CIN and MSO design, the performance models that tie payment to results, and governance for health systems, networks and joint ventures. Executive teams and boards bring him in on decisions that call for careful judgment and real change in how the organization works.

Most recently Brian was Chief Population Health Officer at Innovaccer, where he remains an advisor. Before that, he co-founded HC Wisdom and held consulting leadership roles at The Chartis Group, Sg2, The Camden Group and Geisinger Consulting Group/xG Health Solutions. He was also Senior Vice President at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield over one of the country’s largest commercial value-based care delivery programs.

Brian serves on the system and ACO boards of OSF HealthCare and is faculty and an advisor for The Governance Institute. He writes for Healthcare Executive, has taught for the American College of Healthcare Executives and sits on the editorial board of Population Health Management. Becker’s Hospital Review named him one of the “10 People to Know in the World of ACOs.”

Brian received his MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his internship at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. He holds a BBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, where he graduated as valedictorian with highest distinction and completed a second major in Biology, magna cum laude.
